Cool continental Piedmont. Tortonian (Serralunga) and Helvetian (La Morra) soil split defines two style camps.

Style

Minimum 3 years aging (5 for Riserva). Large old Slavonian oak (traditional) or new small oak (modern).

Dried rose and tar, iron and cherry, very firm grippy tannin, very high acid, needs significant age
